I passed my driving test in other country; can I exchange it for a UK driving licence?

This really depends on where you are from. There are plenty of countries  from which you are allowed to swap your full licence for a UK one. Have a look at the Foreign driving licence page via our useful links for more detailed information.

What is the difference? Between a Trainees Driving Instructor and Fully Qualified Driving Instructor?

Trainee Instructors (PDI - Potential Driving Instructor) can be granted a temporary licence to teach while they finish the training for the test of their ability to instruct. This licence normally lasts 6 months. A fully qualified Driving Instructor (ADI - Approved Driving Instructor) has passed all the relevant tests. A PDI will have to display a pink certificate in the window while teaching, while an ADI has to show their green certificate. Without either of these, or one that has expired, a person can not legally take money for driving lessons.

What is the DSA's Code of Conduct?

The DSA and the driving instruction industry place great emphasis on professional standards and business ethics. The code of practice has been agreed between DSA and the main bodies representing Driving Instructors; it is a framework within which all instructors should operate. The code leaflet can be obtained from any theory test and driving test centres, phone 0115 9012500 or your Driving Instructor should be able to obtain a leaflet for you. It is hoped that ALL Driving Instructors will formally agree to adhere to the terms of the Code. Our Driving Instructors agree to abide by this code. The details can be found on our useful links

Am I ready for my driving test, Can I take a mock test?

Your instructor will conduct the mock test; you will be de-briefed at the end of your test. (Mock tests are incorporate as part of your training with us) We recommend that you have a mock test at least three to four weeks before your real test, before a decision is made if you are ready to take your real test or not.

Please note:

Instructors reserves the right to refuse the use of his car for your driving test

if they believe you are not up to driving test standard.

Contact us to discuss your queries.

How long will it take me to pass?

According to the DSA the national average is 46 hours with a Driving Instructor, and 22 hours of private practice. However, everyone is different, and the time taken will normally depend on your experience and confidence.

Hourly driving lessons or an intensive course?

The advantage of an intensive course is that it's all done in a relatively short space of time, with the test at the end. However, if you have a full time job, or college to attend, you might find a few hours a week more suitable. Please contact us with any queries you may have via our contact page. Please note: We cannot guarantee a driving test pass and do not offer a guaranteed pass course.

What is the New Driver's Act?

Your driving licence is automatically revoked if you build up six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test. This includes any penalty points you had before passing the test, which are still valid. You will have to reapply for your driving licence, and retake your theory and driving tests.

How do I book a theory or driving test?

You can book your theory/driving test on 0870 0101 372. It's a slow process and it's a premium rate number. Or you can try the DSA website, via our useful links You will require your license and payment card details when you book.

I have been let down by another driving school, My driving test is in one week. what can I do?

Subject to availability, we will book you for a 2 hour assessment lesson. However, instructor reserves the right to refuse the use of their car for your driving test if you are not up to driving test standard.

I need to take an extended driving test. Can you help?

Yes, your extended test is likely to be over an hour long, usually 70 minutes, and your driving examiner is looking for a very high standard of driving. We recommend two hour lessons.

I am a really nervous person, can I still lean to drive?

Yes, of course you can. Our friendly instructors understand this and will soon put you at ease and driving with confidence.
